Insurance coverage

Basic Insurance

Driver and Passenger Coverage

When renting a vehicle, the occupants of the vehicle (drivers and passengers) automatically benefit from "All-Risk" insurance. This insurance is included in the rental price and covers all damage except for that suffered by the driver. AVIS Bora Bora does not offer insurance to cover the driver; you should contact your personal insurer for this coverage.

Civil Liability

Regardless of the level of coverage chosen when signing the contract, civil liability insurance is included and covers material and bodily damage that may be caused with the vehicle.

Vehicle Coverage

Material damage and theft of the vehicle remain the responsibility of the customer up to a maximum financial liability:

200,000 F for Eco and Fun Cars
200,000 F for 2-wheelers
250,000 F for cars, SUVs, and family vehicles
300,000 F for premium SUVs
350,000 F for premium convertibles
In case of an accident, the deductible amount will be charged to you until the insurance determines the liability of the drivers.

If the insurance declares you not responsible, you will be refunded the full deductible.

If the insurance determines your responsibility (based on the report made following the accident), you will be liable for the repairs to be carried out on the AVIS vehicle up to the maximum amount of the deductible.

Total Deductible Waiver in Case of Accident, Damage, or Theft (Super Cover)

As an option, AVIS Bora offers Super Cover Insurance - SCDW. This protection applies exclusively during the period indicated on the Rental Agreement and subject to compliance with the rental conditions.

By subscribing to Super Cover, you are exempt from all financial responsibilities in case of accident, damage, or theft of the vehicle, provided an obligatory report is made. The SCDW does not cover tires, undercarriage, and windows. This additional protection must be subscribed at the start of the rental and indicated on the Rental Agreement.

In all cases, in the event of theft or damage caused to the vehicle, Avis charges a fixed compensation of 4,000 F for administrative processing costs borne by Avis, regardless of the type of additional protection ("deductible waiver") subscribed.

If you do not subscribe to these additional protections, you are responsible for the damages attributable to you within the limit of the deductible without additional coverage.

Ultimate Cover

The Ultimate Cover insurance offers the same guarantees as the Super Cover but also covers tires and windows.

Exclusions of Coverage

Glass breakage damages are not covered by the Super Cover. The elements not covered are shown in red in the following diagram. Damages to the upper and lower body of the vehicle due to misjudging the size of the vehicle are also not covered. Additionally, the renter's civil liability is fully engaged in the following circumstances, which exclude any guarantee:

Damages caused intentionally, by malice, or by gross negligence.
Damages caused by crossing water bodies, seawater penetration, getting stuck, overturning the vehicle, driving on non-drivable roads, driving in mountains, failure to present for weekly technical checks, falling coconuts, and falling branches/palms from coconut trees.
Damages caused by driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, or caused by any passenger under such influence.
Damages caused in case of vehicle theft when the keys cannot be returned to AVIS Bora Bora.
Damages caused when the vehicle is driven by a third party not designated in the rental agreement.
Damages caused in case of unauthorized vehicle retention, especially if the renter does not show up at our offices to extend the rental agreement.
In the above cases and in the event of non-compliance with the rental conditions, any insurance and additional protections subscribed are inapplicable. In such cases, you are responsible for all damages attributable to you (including those suffered by the vehicle up to the vehicle's market value plus the costs and expenses related to its immobilization).
